Sound Choices/ Building the Setting

So far the hardest part of the editing process has been, as mentioned before, choosing the sound. Me and Eugenia have been looking at several websites with royalty free music in order to find the best sound background, however, ever since the group discussion day, we have been looking for nature sounds as well, such as noises of birds, wind, and trees from a park. We have had to make sure that these noises have no human talking in them though, since all of our shots have only the two sisters, since we of course intended for the hike to look isolated. We have found several that we like, and added them to our Google drive folder so that we both have access to them. Listening to these reminded us of our previous sound project in which we were partners in, and made us realize we could foley our own sounds, such as the sound of footsteps on the leaves, or the sound when Maddie falls and twists her ankle. We could use actual leaves from our backyard to record these, or some hat object hitting the ground for Maddie’s fall. We don’t know yet if we want to draw too much attention to the footstep sounds though, since we want the audience to focus on what is being said on the voice-over.

We plan to try these out and put them on our finished product once the editing of clips is done. We want to make sure that our sounds go together as professionally as possible and don’t sound immature. Aside from that, these are not key elements of our video, therefore if we fail at making them sound good, I don’t think it would hurt us too much. However, I do want us to give it our best shot in order to give this project everything it needs for it to be its best version. Today I talked with my aunt and figured out some arrangements that we could do in order to have the perfect setting for our therapist scene. She told me she could bring some blankets and props that could certainly help with the setting. We also talked about costumes. I will be wearing the same over sized brown crew neck and black leggings as Maddie wore on the past scene we filmed, since these two are supposed to go together. As for my aunt, we thought neutral colors would be best for the Therapist. A cardigan would give her q comforting vibe, and some jewelry as well. We will both be bringing options from our closets before filming day in order to compare our options and choose the one we see as most fitting.

CCR/ Reflection

What a ride this has been! We are finally at the end of the road. This project definitely challenged certain skills and tactics that I did...
